About me
Experience
Following a decade teaching in secondary schools, I started my first business: an education centre helping children who struggle with maths and English. This experience ignited my interest in business and after seven years, my co-founder and I sold the two education centres we'd established in Bath, joined the ed-tech start-up world and founded DoodleLearning. We spent the next decade building a multi-award winning product which helps children gain confidence in maths and English.
My role was CEO and my passion was building the team, creating and embedding a strong culture and developing the very talented individuals we had the privilege of working with. After 10 years, the company was acquired by a global education brand.

Being coached
As I grew my business, I often felt isolated by the day-to-day challenges and big decisions. On the one hand, I needed to present strong leadership to our investors and our rapidly growing team and, on the other, I was on a steep learning curve which demanded constant change.
Periodically, I would look for a coach, a mentor or an advisor and often felt what I really needed was a therapist. Eventually, through the work of Brené Brown, I found a brilliant coach and I was able to pull together an understanding of why I found some things more challenging. I was able to understand my strengths, values and motivation and let go of some limiting beliefs which were holding me, and therefore my business, back.
It was through coaching that I created our eight-step plan to sell our company within two years. The plan was so good, we'd executed it within a year.

Becoming a coach
As evident from the testimonials below, coaching has consistently been a pivotal aspect of my professional toolkit. My journey into coaching began in 2005 when I trained to coach teachers. Throughout my entrepreneurial ventures, my commitment has always been to empower individuals to engage in critical thinking and take charge of their decision-making processes.
Recognising that the coaching industry lacks standardised regulations, I am currently pursuing Professional Certification as an Executive Coach at the highly-regarded University of Reading Business School. This endeavour has brought me back into the classroom, where I am actively immersing myself in the transformative process of learning.

Interests, values and character
My particular areas of interest are business growth, culture, people, education and neurodiversity. I dedicate time to enhancing my understanding through continued professional and personal development by taking courses, reading books and listen to podcasts to gain new insights and understanding.
The values which resonate most for me are integrity, honesty, curiosity and learning. I see potential in everyone and every situation. I have a warm, kind and enthusiastic personality which is encouraging and motivating for clients. I'm direct and I like transparency which will help you reach your goals more quickly.
